Marine Corps JROTC instructors must be recertified every four years.

JROTC Instructor Hiring Procedures
Vacancies in the MCJROTC Program are advertised in the Newsletter
for Retired Marines, and other periodicals generally distributed
to Marines and former Marines, and on this website. Interested certified
applicants should contact the high schools in which they are
interested in working for in
order to arrange for an interview with the appropriate school officials. The Marine
Corps does not pay for interview and travel expenses.
Each instructor candidate is responsible for negotiating their
own contract with the school. This contract is not linked in any
way to the reimbursement the school receives from the Marine Corps.
However, by law the contract salary established must at least equal
the total salary, including allowances (except flight and special
performance pay) they would receive per month on active duty.
Finally, instructors hired will be required to furnish supporting
documentation required for original certification of BAH and OHA. A copy of all required documentation will be maintained in the instructor’s
file at the Marine Corps District JROTC Office.
Instructor Recertification
All Marine Corps JROTC instructors will initially receive a provisional
certification pending completion of the resident Instructor Certification
Course and securing initial employment. The instructor
certification course must be completed within the first two years
of initial employment. Additionally, Instructors holding full certification must apply for recertification
every four years.
Finally, instructor recertification requires submission of a current
photo in uniform accompanied by documentation from a medical
doctor verifying
the instructor's health, height, weight and body fat (if necessary).
The recertification package must also include documentation of education and training, and a letter of
recommendation from the school principal. Marine Instructor
applications will be endorsed by the Senior Marine Instructor.
