Daniel Boone JROTC Unit Claims First Place in NC Meet

The Daniel Boone High School MCJROTC unit took 1st place overall in the 5th Annual R-S Central Drill and Marksmanship Competition in Rutherfordton, North Carolina on Saturday, 6 March 2006.  The team surpassed its previous record by winning a total of 21 team and individual awards to top a field of twelve schools.  Dustin Humphreys took 1st place in Individual Drill Exhibition and then teamed with Adam Whittington to take 1st place in the Dual Exhibition Drill. In Armed IDR Knockout Drill, Byron Barnes took 3rd place, Megan Thornburg 4th place and Amanda Waldrop 6th place. In the Unarmed IDR Knockout, Drill Courtney McDavid took 3rd place, Sean Edmondson 4th place, David Guck 5th place, and Julie Harris 10th place. In the Marksmanship Competition Kristopher Buckingham received a 3rd place trophy for his performance in the Prone Position.

The Daniel Boone Drill Team regularly competes in armed and unarmed drill, personnel inspection, color guard, exhibition drill and individual precision military drill.  The team's next competition will be at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday, April 8 2006.
